West End MarketPlace
About

About

Historically, The Shops at West End MarketPlace is comprised of three adjoining buildings that were renovated into one building.

The renovation preserved the original red brick Chicago School exterior architectural features and some interior appointments left by the Brown Cracker and Candy Company that later became known as the Sunshine Biscuit Company. The Shops at West End MarketPlace is comprised of two four-story buildings and one seven-story building, all adjoined.

Owned and managed by Market Street Developers Ltd., The Shops at West End MarketPlace opened in October 1986.

For more than 19 years, The Shops at West End MarketPlace has been home to a unique mix of shops, galleries and entertainment that includes Western wear, antiques, jewelry, fine chocolates, fudge made in-house with an entertaining “fudge show”, Texas-themed items, authentic Dallas Cowboys merchandise, a shop to catch a delicious bite of “quick food”, a comedy theatre, a Texas Roadhouse nightclub, a R & B classic rock nightclub, and a facility for small or large private party or corporate events.

From its beginning almost 100 years ago, the Brown Cracker and Candy Company possessed a turn of the century flavor and charm that is unique to Dallas.

Though times have changed, reminders of this rich history and tradition are evident throughout the West End. Brick-lined streets, horse-drawn carriages and Victorian street lamps are reminders of a simpler time.

Presently, it is a blend of yesterday’s western pioneer heritage and today’s exciting and ever-changing retail environment.

The Shops at West End Marketplace is located in the West End Historic District in downtown Dallas. It is just minutes from the Dallas Convention Center, the renown Arts District, Reunion Arena and the American Airlines Center.

The West End MarketPlace retail shopping mall will be closing its doors on June 30, 2006. Thank you for 20 years.

The West End District is still thriving with its many and varied restaurants, clubs and shopping. The West End District is also home to the Sixth Floor Museum, the Dallas World Aquarium and horse carriage rides. For current events and happenings in the West End, log on to www.dallaswestend.org.
